Indy Racer, 34” L x 15” w x 9” h, welded cold rolled steel. I used a model of Emerson Fitapaldi’s Lola and many photographs I took from around Gasoline Alley. To sculpt a race car out of straight metal rod was challenging. I created a grid; where every angle and every contour was simplified into its most basic form … a line. The cockpit, wheelbase and transmission proved the most difficult. However, after several attempts, and several variations, I ended up with the colorful rendition that you see in the photo layout.
